Ithaca Suffers First Dual Match Loss of Season
HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Ithaca College men's tennis team suffered its first dual match loss of the 2015-16 season Tuesday, dropping a tough 5-4 decision to Georgetown College (Kent.) in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Bombers (3-1) took a 4-2 lead heading into the doubles contests, but the Tigers (2-7) swept the three doubles matches to earn the win.
Senior
Chris Hayes improved to 4-0 in singles play thanks to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tristan Nosek at second singles, while junior
Wes Davis also improved to 4-0 in singles play after defeating Ryan Simms 7-5, 6-1 at third singles.
Sophomore
Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos earned his third singles win in four matches after posting a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kaushik Kailish at sixth singles, while junior
Brandon Buksbaum won his second straight singles match, 6-4, 6-3 over Austin Colliver at fifth singles.
Junior
Nate Wolf suffered a tough three-set loss vs. Cole McCreary at fourth singles, winning the first set 6-3 before falling 7-6 (7-5) and 10-8.
Thanks to those four singles wins, IC took a 4-2 lead into the doubles portion of competition, but the Bombers were unable to pick up one more point.
Hayes and freshman
Michael Gardiner suffered the toughest loss in doubles play, falling 9-8 (7-5) to McCreary and Simms at the first flight to clinch the match for Georgetown.
Wolf and freshman
Stefan Lazarevic dropped an 8-6 decision to Colliver and Kailish at the third flight, while Davis and Viguie-Ramos lost an 8-2 decision at first doubles for IC.
The Bombers conclude their Spring Break trip when they square off against Baker University at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
