Spring sports are in full swing as most programs have been playing in the warmer climate of the south while on break. Those earning weekly awards for the week of Feb. 29 - March 6, 2016 include....

Men’s Indoor Track Athlete –  Nazareth
Michael-Jordan Morris, Freshman – Amherst, NY/Amherst
 
Michael-Jordan Morris broke his own school record by winning the 60-meter hurdles Saturday at St. Lawrence's Fast Chance Invitational with a time of 8.62 seconds. He also ran on the Golden Flyers' 4 x 400-meter relay that set a school record with a second-place time of 3:21.14.
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete –  Nazareth
Luis Rivera, Senior – Rochester, NY/James Monroe
 
Luis Rivera won the weight throw at the ECAC meet at Staten Island Saturday with a first-place heave of 19.85 meters (65 feet,1 1/2 inches). It was his eighth first-place finish in that event this season and he enters this weekend's NCAA Division III championship meet as the top seed in that event.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete –  Ithaca
Taryn Cordani, Sophomore – Douglas, MA/Douglas
 
Sophomore Taryn Cordani clocked a time of 9:46.18 in the 3,000-meter run to surpass her own school record by nearly eight seconds at the ECAC Indoor Championships. On Saturday, Cordani bested the field by 15 seconds and now holds the best time in ECAC Championship history.
 
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete –  Ithaca
Katherine Pitman, Junior – Swampscott, MA/Swampscott
 
Junior Katherine Pitman won the pole vault with a mark of 4.15 meters to top her previous best performance by .06 meters at the ECAC Indoor Championships. Pitman now ranks first in the nation on the pole vault is now just .02 meters shy of the top showing at the NCAA Division III Championship meet set in 2011. The performance is also a new ECAC Championship record as Pitman helped Ithaca win its fourth team title.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Player –  Nazareth
Luke Wooters, Senior, A – White Plains, NY/Iona Prep
 
Luke Wooters spearheaded Nazareth's 13-9 non-conference win over seventh-ranked Cortland last Friday with eight points on four goals and four assists, making the Golden Flyers' first win over the Red Dragons since 2007.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie –  St. John Fisher
Tanner Swan, Junior – Ridgewood, NJ/Loomis Chaffee
 
In 90 minute of action, Tanner Swan made 14 saves, while allowing just seven goals (4.67 GAA). He made four saves in 30 scoreless minutes vs. Lyndon State on Monday and then made 10 saves and allowed seven goals in a 13-7 win over Otterbein on Wednesday to finish the week with a .667 save percentage. In the Otterbein game, Swan also picked up two assists in the third quarter, including assisting on the eventual game-winning goal.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player –  Stevens
Erika Wilcox, Senior, A – Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker
 
Senior Erika Wilcox scored nine goals with one assist to lead the Ducks to a 2-0 start to their season. In Stevens' season-opening win over FDU-Florham, Wilcox became the eighth player in the history of the program to amass 200 career points. Wilcox scored five goals off eight shots on goal in Wednesday's win, in addition to five ground balls and three caused turnovers. In Saturday's win over Rowan, Wilcox scored four goals off six shots on goal.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie –  Stevens
Stephanie Schnelzer, Sophomore – Carmel, IN/Carmel
 
In 111 minutes of action, sophomore goalie Stephanie Schnelzer recorded 15 total saves in the 2-0 week for the Ducks. Schnelzer kicked-off the season with five saves in a season-opening rout over FDU-Florham, before tallying 10 saves in a Saturday win over Rowan. Schnelzer's goal against average was 3.77 for the week, while her save percentage was .682.
 
Baseball Player –  Ithaca
Andrew Bailey, Freshman, DH – Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls
 
Freshman Andrew Bailey helped Ithaca sweep St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday by 4-1 and 18-2 scores. Bailey combined to go 4-for-9 in the doubleheader with three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.
 
Baseball Pitcher –  St. John Fisher
Marc Iseneker, Junior – Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill
 
Junior Marc Iseneker delivered a superb performance on the mound for Fisher in the 9-1 win over John Carroll, tossing seven innings. Iseneker scattered six hits with two walks and gave up one earned run. He struck out seven batter (five looking) and held opponents to a .231 batting average.
 
Softball Player –  St. John Fisher
Julia Sortisio, Freshman, OF – Lancaster, NY/Lancaster
 
Julie Sortisio had a strong start to her freshman campaign this past week on the Cardinal’s spring trip to Florida. She led the team with a .462 batting average, while also pacing the team with eight RBI. She collected 12 hits in 26 at-bats, including three doubles and her first career home run.  Sortisio had two stolen bases and eight putouts.
 
Softball Pitcher –  St. John Fisher
Lindsey Thayer, Sophomore – Winthrop, NY/St. Lawrence
 
Lindsey Thayer made five appearances in the circle during St. John Fisher’s trip to Florida. She finished with a 5-0 record. Thayer recorded an ERA of 0.00 with 74 strikeouts over 35 innings of work. She allowed 19 hits and one walk while holding opponents to .152 batting.
