Stevens Takes Seventh At NYU Invite
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (April 10, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team shot a 319 Sunday in the second round of the NYU Invitational, which combined with the 316 from Saturday placed the Ducks in seventh with a 635.
The annual two-round tournament took place at the par-71, 6,547 yard Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield.
Junior
Frank Szucs mirrored his Saturday round with a 77 Sunday to give him a 154 for the weekend, good for a tie for 12th place. Senior
Justin Niemeier shot a 79 to secure a tie for 21st, while freshman
Tyler Balkema placed in a tie for 28th after a 79 and 81.
Freshman
Jack Doherty rounded-out the Stevens scoring with a pair of 82's.
Skidmore College captured the team title with a 603, while Williams College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute took second and third respectively with scores of 618 and 622.
Individually, Skidmore's Tim Manwaring captured the wire-to-wire championship after a 74 Sunday gave him a two-round total of 143.
The Ducks will conclude their 2015-16 season next weekend with the final two rounds of the Empire 8 Conference championship.
