Alfred knocks of Keuka

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team took an 8-1 decision from visiting non-conference opponent Keuka College Wednesday afternoon.
AU took five of six singles match and swept three doubles matchups to improve to 4-10 on the season.
Senior
Connor (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) won first singles, 6-1, 6-1; senior
Matt Baloga (Goshen, NY/Goshen) won third singles, 6-0, 6-0; senior
Kevin Volz (Olean, NY/Olean) took fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2; junior
Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) claimed a win in fifth singles, 6-1, 6-3; and freshman
Sean Benoit (Gasport, NY/Barker) won sixth singles, 6-3, 6-4.
Doud and Baloga won first doubles, 8-3; Volz and Brown won second doubles, 8-0; and sophomore
Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) and freshman
Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) won third doubles, 8-0.

Autumn McLain was pleased with the Saxons' effort, which came in chilly conditions ahead of a weekend in which Alfred returns to Empire 8 Conference play with matches at home against Ithaca and Elmira.
"It was a great win to prepare for what will be a tough weekend," McLain said. "Despite the cold weather and lack of sun, their spirits were high and they pushed through."
Alfred's plays Ithaca at 4 p.m. Friday, April 15, and Elmira at noon Saturday, April 16.
