Ithaca Gets Back to Winning Ways at Nazareth
MENDON, N.Y. —The Ithaca College men's tennis handed Nazareth College its first loss in Empire 8 conference action, 9-0 Tuesday afternoon in Mendon, N.Y.
Ithaca (5-5, 2-1 Empire 8) won all six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches against the Golden Flyers (4-8, 3-1). Every IC player won at singles and doubles as the Bombers dropped only one set in the win.
Freshman
Stefan Lazarevic earned the first singles win of his career, knocking off Jared Sharza 6-2, 6-1 in the sixth flight.
Junior
Nate Wolf recorded a three-set win against Louis Rogers at third singles. Wolf won the first set, 6-0, but dropped the second, 6-2. He rebounded to win the set and the match, 6-2 in the decisive third set.
Senior
Chris Hayes picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tyler Williams at first singles, while junior
Wes Davis prevailed 6-1, 6-1 against Scott Trobert at second singles.
Junior
Brandon Buksbaum handed Christian Bryant a 6-3, 6-3 setback at fourth singles, while sophomore
Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos defeated Lamar Hunt by a 6-1, 6-4 score at fifth singles.
Viguie-Ramos and Davis teamed up for an 8-6 win over Williams and Hurt at first doubles, while Lazarevic and Hayes earned an 8-3 win at second doubles. Wolf and Buksbaum recorded a 9-7 win over Trobert and Ryley Amond in the third flight to complete the scoring.
The Bombers travel to Alfred at 4 p.m. Friday and Houghton at 12 p.m. Sunday in a pair of conference clashes.
