Six Athletes Post Two Wins as Ithaca Sweeps
ALFRED, N.Y. —Every member of the starting lineup earned wins at both singles and doubles as the Ithaca College men's tennis team swept Alfred University 9-0 Friday afternoon on the William T. Brown Tennis Courts in Alfred, N.Y.
Ithaca (6-5, 3-1 Empire 8) swept all three doubles matches and the six singles matches against the Saxons (4-11, 1-3 Empire 8). The Bombers won five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
Junior
Wes Davis earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles, while freshman
Stefan Lazarevic won 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles as Ithaca improved to 4-2 in road matches.
Senior
Chris Hayes battled back for a three-set win at first singles. Hayes, who sits at 96 career wins, lost the first set by a 6-4 score before winning 6-4 and 10-4 to secure the point for IC.
In other singles action, junior
Nate Wolf secured a point thanks to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the third flight, while classmate
Brandon Buksbaum posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at the fourth flight, and sophomore
Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles.
Hayes and Viguie-Ramos improved to 9-2 in singles play in dual matches, while Davis ran his mark to 8-3.
In doubles action, Davis and Viguie-Ramos won 8-4 at the first flight, Hayes and Lazarevic won 8-5 in the second flight, and Wolf and Buksbaum emerged with an 8-4 win at third doubles.
The Bombers travel to Houghton College for a 12 p.m. Empire 8 match Saturday.
