Men's golf crowned its champion over the weekend, track and field is gearing up for its championship this coming weekend and the last week of the regular season in some sports is upon us as teams vie for tournament positions. Those earning weekly honors for the week of April 11-17, 2016 include...

Men’s Lacrosse Player –  Nazareth
Luke Wooters, Senior, Attack – White Plains, NY/Iona Prep
 
Luke Wooters totaled 22 points (8g, 14a) in two Empire 8 Conference wins, including a school-record tying 13-point effort in last Wednesday's 20-7 win at Utica. He had five goals and eight assists in that game and then delivered three goals and six assists in Saturday's 20-9 victory over Hartwick.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie –  Nazareth
Scott Brown, Senior – Naperville, IL/Waubonsie Valley
 
Scott Brown helped the Golden Flyers to a pair of men's lacrosse victories last week as he totaled 20 saves and a .588 save percentage in wins over Utica and Hartwick. He had eight saves and yielded five goals in three quarters of a 20-7 win at Utica Wednesday. He then had 12 saves and allowed nine goals in Saturday's 20-9 win over Hartwick.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Player –  Stevens
Erika Wilcox, Senior, Attack – Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville
 
Senior Erika Wilcox scored 11 goals in a 2-1 week for the Ducks that included a road-win over nationally ranked St. John Fisher. Against Fisher Sunday, Wilcox scored six of Stevens' nine goals, including the game-winner with under a minute to go to hand Fisher its first E8 loss of the season. Wilcox also scooped-up three ground balls, caused a pair of turnovers, and won 11 draw controls for the week.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie –  Ithaca
Emily Ross, Junior – Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville
 
Junior Emily Ross made 12 saves and allowed seven goals in a pair of wins as Ithaca defeated William Smith and Hartwick. Ross made a season-high 10 saves in the first half of the William Smith game on Tuesday and then made two saves in 30 minutes of action against Hartwick Saturday.
 
Baseball Player –  Ithaca
Webb Little, Freshman, 3B – Fayetteville, NY/CBA
 
Freshman Webb Little batted .636 (14-for-22) in a 3-3 week for Ithaca. Little scored nine runs with nine RBI and hit four doubles. He slugged .818 over the six contests, and highlighted his week with back-to-back four-hit games against Utica on Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubles in each contest.
 
Baseball Pitcher –  Stevens
Robert Robbins, Senior – Tallahassee, FL/Leon
 
Robert Robbins tossed five hit-less innings in his only start of the week against Utica Wednesday. He picked up his fourth win of the season after striking out seven while only walking four.
 
Softball Player –  Utica
Alysa Russell, Senior, SS – Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville
 
Senior Alysa Russell extended her hitting streak to ten games as she batted .650 (13-for-20) including two home runs in six games last week. With seven stolen bases on the week, she set a new program single-season steals record with 20 so far this year. Russell also moved into first place on the College's all-time list as she now has 128 career runs scored and she is just the fourth player in program-history to record 100 or more career RBIs.
 
Softball Pitcher –  St. John Fisher
Lindsey Thayer, Sophomore – Winthrop, NY/St. Lawrence
 
Lindsey Thayer highlighted her six-game week with a total of 87 strikeouts. She shut out five straight games, only allowing her opponent to score two runs in the final game of the six-game stretch. She started the week tying her school record of 19 strikeouts in the win over Keuka Tuesday. She then set a new St. John Fisher College softball record for strikeouts in a single game with 20 in a seven-inning 4-0 win over RIT on Thursday. Thayer earned 20 of a possible 21 outs via the strikeout with the only other out coming on a foul out to right in the seventh inning. On Saturday she had two back to back performances of nine strikeouts against Elmira and then finished the week with 15 strikeouts in each game of the doubleheader against Stevens on Sunday.
 
Men’s Tennis Player–  Ithaca
Wes Davis, Junior – Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Country Day
 
Junior Wes Davis earned six wins in three matches as the Ithaca College men's tennis team swept three matches against Empire 8 foes. With the three 9-0 wins over Nazareth, Alfred, and Houghton, Ithaca improved to 7-5 overall, 4-1 in Empire 8 play. Davis won all three of his second singles matches, dropping only four games in earning wins against Nazareth, Alfred, and Houghton. He also earned three wins at first doubles, partnering with sophomore Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos to earn three convincing wins while dropping only 12 games.
 
Men’s Golf Player –  St. John Fisher
Corey Haas, Senior – Cuba, NY/Cuba-Rushford
 
Senior Corey Haas was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year for the second straight year as he finished with a four-round total of 298 (76-74-70-78) to post an 11-shot victory over the field at the 2016 Empire 8 Men’s Golf Championship. 
 
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete –  Utica
Tyler Wright, Freshman – Little Falls, NY/West Canada Valley
 
Freshman Tyler Wright posted a new school-record in the 3000 meter steeple chase as he registered a time of 9:28.13 and took home first place at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State. His current time is ranked 25th on the NCAA Division III national qualifying list.
 
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete –  Nazareth
Luis Rivera, Senior – Rochester, NY/James Monroe
 
Luis Rivera posted a personal best distance in winning the hammer throw Saturday at the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian. He ranks 10th nationally with a heave of 55.78 meters (183 feet).
 
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete –  Ithaca
Taryn Cordani, Sophomore – Douglas, MA/Douglas
 
Sophomore Taryn Cordani won the 1,500-meter run in a meet record of 4:37.94 at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian on Saturday.
 
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete –  Ithaca
Brandy Smith, Junior – Miami, FL/Everglades
 
Junior Brandy Smith set a new meet and facility record at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College with a winning performance of 50.46 meters in the discus. Smith won the event by more than six meters, and finished nearly 12 meters farther than the closest Division III entry. She matched her school record in the shot put and took second at 13.12 meters (ECAC). She was also a runner-up in the hammer throw in an ECAC mark of 45.56 meters.
