E8 Spotlight: John Talbot

John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) and is a sophomore for the Hartwick men’s tennis team and majors in Philosophy.
Why did you choose to attend Hartwick College?
When I first arrived on campus the philosophy professors were very welcoming and I didn’t make me feel like a number.
What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete? The greatest part for me is definitely the bonding experiences on the team. Being a part of a smaller team you really get to develop a deep relationship with everyone.
Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? Peter Dumas, the current assistant coach, has done a lot for me both on and off the court.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I would like to be practicing law and living in North Carolina.
What do you like most about competing in the Empire 8? I really like the size and geography of the conference and to have a good rivalry with schools that you are familiar with.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to play video games, hang out with friends, play Frisbee and just be outside camping and hiking.
What are the top three things on your bucket list? I would like to see the Seven Wonders of the World, move south and maintain relationships with people I have met.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I always carry a pen on me.
