ITHACA, N.Y. —Senior
Chris Hayes picked up a pair of wins against Hartwick College Wednesday afternoon and earned his 100th career victory as the Ithaca College men's tennis team swept Hartwick College 9-0 at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
Hayes, who has earned first-team All-Empire 8 honors at both singles and doubles every year at Ithaca, posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles and teamed with junior
Wes Davis on an 8-0 win at first doubles to reach 100 career wins.
"Getting to 100 wins was one of my personal goals coming into this spring season and it's a really special accomplishment," Hayes said. "I'm really happy that I get to share it with great teammates to. It does mean a lot to me because when you look at the records and some of the names there, it's pretty surreal to see yours right there with them. Now it's time to finish the season strong and get some quality wins down the stretch."
It was the fourth straight win and fourth straight sweep for the Bombers (8-5, 5-1 Empire 8), who remained in second place in the Empire 8.
