Utica Narrowly Falls at Home
UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team fell 6-3 against visiting Oswego in non-conference action on Wednesday. Utica is now 1-7 overall with a 0-5 Empire 8 Conference record while the Lakers improved to 11-2 overall.
Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) led the team with a singles victory (6-4,6-7,10-6) and teamed up with
Jacob Nigolian (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) for an 8-6 doubles victory.
Kevin Vo (Utica, NY/Proctor) also earned a singles victory defeating Alex McCarthy in three sets (0-6,6-2,6-4).
Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) won three games over two sets (2-6,1-6) while
Patrick Doan (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) earned a victory in one game over two sets (1-6, 0-6). The team of Vo and Warnon and
Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and
Edgar Aguilar (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) both fell 8-4 in doubles action.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they travel to conference opponent Alfred and Sunday when they travel to conference opponent Ithaca. The match on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m while the match on Sunday is set to start at 12 p.m.
