ECAC Weekly Honors for Little, Thayer and Wooters
Three Empire 8 student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Athletes of the Week in the Metro/Upstate region for their performances during the week of April 11-17, 2016.
Baseball – Metro/Upstate
Rookie of the Week
Webb Little – Ithaca College, Fr., Third Base, Fayetteville, N.Y.
Little batted .636 (14-for-22) in a 3-3 week for Ithaca. Little scored nine runs with nine RBI and hit four doubles. He slugged .818 over the six contests, and highlighted his week with back-to-back four-hit games against Utica on Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubles in each contest.
Softball – Metro/Upstate
Pitcher of the Week
Lindsey Thayer – St. John Fisher College, So., Winthrop, N.Y.
Thayer highlighted her six-game week with a total of 87 strikeouts. She shut out her opponents in five-straight games, only allowing her opponent to score in the final game of the six-game stretch. She started the week tying her school record of 19 strikeouts in the win over Keuka Tuesday. She then set a new St. John Fisher College softball record for strikeouts in a single game with 20 in a seven-inning 4-0 win over RIT on Thursday. Thayer earned 20 of a possible 21 outs via the strikeout with the only other out coming on a foul out to right in the seventh inning. On Saturday she had two back-to-back performances of nine strikeouts against Elmira and then finished the week with 15 strikeouts in each game of the doubleheader against Stevens on Sunday.

Offensive Player of the Week
Luke Wooters – Nazareth College, Sr., Attack, White Plains, N.Y.
Wooters totaled 22 points (8g, 14a) in two Empire 8 Conference wins, including a school-record tying 13-point effort in last Wednesday's 20-7 win at Utica. He had five goals and eight assists in that game and then delivered three goals and six assists in Saturday's 20-9 victory over Hartwick.
