Lynch Scores 100th Goal

ELMIRA, NY—Sophomore
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) scored his 100
th career goal at Alfred University as the Saxons took down Elmira College, 20-8, on the road Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) paced AU with seven goals and an assist. Lynch and junior
John Winchell (Vestal, NY/Vestal) netted a hat-trick each. Winchell dished out a game-high three assists while Lynch provided two helpers.
Senior
Nolan Jessop (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and junior
Rob Ensmenger (Old Bethpage, NY/Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK) scored twice each while junior
Nick Skibitsky (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East), and freshmen
Peyton VanBibber (Canton, NY/H.C. Williams) and
Anthony Ricottilli (Cortland, NY/Cortland) rounded out the scoring with one goal a piece.
The Soaring Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Saxons erased the deficit with 5-0 run in the first quarter. Elmira would score with under a minute to go in the first quarter before the Saxons rattled off a seven-goal run. At the intermission AU lead Elmira 12-4.
Lynch, who reached the century mark on a goal assisted by Winchell, scored the first goal in the third quarter setting the Saxons up for an 8-4 run in the second half. When the final horn sounded AU remained on top 20-8.
Faceoff specialist
Jimmy Pratti (Slatehill, NY/Minisink Valley) dominated the faceoff circle in the game winning 28-of-31 faceoffs. In addition to owning possession for the Saxons, Pratti surmounted 14 ground balls. Pratti's career-high is 16 ground balls set against Houghton College during his freshman campaign.
Senior
Max Wilson (Menlo, CA/Menlo-Atherton) led AU with two caused turnovers combined with three ground balls.
The Saxons have a week off before they return to Alfred, NY to take on the Ithaca College Bombers in Yunevich Stadium at 1PM.
