Westfield, Mass. – The Utica College men's track & field team earned 213 points and won the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State on Saturday.  Freshman Tyler Wright (Little Falls, NY/West Canada Valley) posted a new school-record in the 3000 meter steeple chase as he registered a time of 9:28.13 and took home first place.  His current time is ranked 19thon the NCAA Division III national qualifying list. As a team, the Pioneers had 23 finishes in the top three or better and won the team competition with 216 total points.

Wright, who is the reigning Empire 8 Cross Country Rookie of the Year,  has placed first in every event he has entered this Spring.  He had a first place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase at Hamilton on March 26th, he was part of the Pioneers' season-best outdoor 4 x 800 meter relay team which won at Hamilton with a time of 8:22.67 and he also added a first place finish in the men's 5000 meter race at the Alvernia Crusader Invitational on April 2nd (15:49.25).
