HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis earned its first win over St. John Fisher since joining the Empire 8 Conference three years ago on Friday.

Playing in the Kerr-Pegula Field House due to rainy conditions outside, the Highlanders won by a final score of 6-3.

Houghton earned wins in second and third doubles, as well as third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles.

"Those who did not play for a point today are the ones to compliment," said Head Coach Charlie Ellis. "This supporting cast daily has pushed every top player in practice and supported them in the matches. They have been sweating and fighting daily to get the entire team ready to play.

"Now we have a chance to qualify for postseason if we keep our resolve and continue to battle."
