Ithaca Emerges With Road Win vs. Hamilton
CLINTON, N.Y. —The Ithaca College men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon against Hamilton College inside the Margaret Bundy Scott Fieldhouse in Clinton, N.Y.
Ithaca (9-5) posted wins in five of the six singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches against the Continentals (5-11).
It was the fifth straight win for the Bombers.
Freshman
Stefan Lazarevic earned a thrilling three-set, come-from-behind victory at sixth singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Lazarevic stormed back to earn the point by scores of 6-3 and 10-3 to run his record to 5-2 in dual matches.
In the other singles matches: senior
Chris Hayes posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at the first flight, junior
Wes Davis recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win at the second flight, and junior
Nate Wolf earned a 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 triumph at the third flight.
Sophomore
Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the fifth flight, while junior
Brandon Buksbaum lost a 6-2, 6-1 decision at fourth singles for the Bombers.
Hayes and Viguie-Ramos each improved to 12-2 in singles play in duals, Davis improved to 11-3, while Wolf evened his record at 7-7 this year.
In doubles action: Davis and Hayes earned an 8-6 win at the first flight, and Buksbaum and Wolf posted a 9-8 (7-3) win at the third flight. Lazarevic and Viguie-Ramos dropped a tough 8-6 decision at second doubles to round out the scoring.
The Bombers host Utica College in an Empire 8 clash at 12 p.m. Sunday at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
