Stevens Women’s Soccer Joins Fight Against Childhood Cancer
INFORMATION FLYER
HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 4, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer program will be joining with their alumnae in a small-sided tournament to benefit Summer Semerad and her fight against pediatric liver cancer on April 16 at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
Summer, the daughter of women's soccer alumnae Gina (Crifasi) Semerad, was diagnosed with pediatric liver cancer last spring, but has fortunately responded well to treatments and is scheduled to finish up treatments this month. Several Stevens women's soccer graduates have helped rally the alumnae to join the team and the coaches in the event to help raise awareness and contributions toward the fight against pediatric cancer.
Last year, the Semerad's support group raised over $30,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand, an organization that helps in the fight against childhood cancer. This year, their group is uniting to run the New York Marathon, and with the help from Stevens Women's Soccer, hope to raise even dollars to this fight in honor of Summer.
