Three Empire 8 student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Athletes of the Week in the Metro/Upstate region for their performances during the week of March 28 - April 3, 2016.

Women’s Lacrosse – Metro/Upstate
Offensive Player of the Week
Kathleen Kalbian – Stevens, Jr., Midfield, Cheshire, CT.
 
Kalbian scored 11 goals with two assists last week to lead the Ducks to a 3-0 week that include Empire 8 wins over Houghton and Alfred. Kalbian also scooped-up 14 ground balls, and played a crucial role on the defense causing four turnovers. Serving as the Ducks sole option on the draw, Kalbian won 10 draw controls.
 
Softball – Metro-Upstate
Pitcher of the Week
Abby Monroe – Utica College, Sr., Watertown, N.Y. 
 
Monroe totaled 22 strikeouts in two games last week. On Wednesday, she allowed just four base runners and fanned nine to help Utica to a 3-2 win over Union. She followed that up with a career-high 13 strikeouts and drove in the insurance run as Utica downed nationally ranked No. 12 St. John Fisher College, 2-0, on Saturday.
 
Men’s Lacrosse – Metro/Upstate
Defensive Player of the Week
Scott Sidnam – Ithaca College, Sr., Camillus, N.Y.
 
Sidnam combined for 31 saves as the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team knocked off rivals Cortland and Stevens to extend its winning streak to seven. Sidnam, a two-time Empire 8 Goalie of the Year, made a career-high 20 saves to consistently turn away the Red Dragons during Wednesday night's 18-12 home win as Ithaca earned its first win over Cortland since an 11-8 decision March 21, 2009. Sidnam made five saves in the first quarter, three in the second, seven in the third, and five in the fourth to clinch the win for Ithaca. Hosting No. 16 Stevens on Saturday, Sidnam made 11 saves as the Bombers (9-1, 2-0 Empire 8) earned a 17-7 win.
