Utica Falls to Oswego on the Road

OSWEGO, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team fell 8-1 to host Oswego in non-conference action on Wednesday. Matt Rogers (East Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) earned his first singles victory this season defeating Ryan Korn 6-4 in both sets. Utica is now 0-3 overall with a 0-2 Empire 8 Conference record while Oswego improves to a 7-2 record.
 
Senior Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) won two games falling 6-1 in both sets while Kevin Vo (Utica, NY/Proctor) won one game falling 6-0, and 6-1. Jacob Nigolian (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) also earned a victory in one game falling in two sets 6-1 and 6-0.
 
In doubles play Vo and Warnon won 11 games but fell 9-8 and 7-3. Rogers and Patrick Doan (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) teamed up to win two games falling 8-2 while the team of Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and Nigolian won one game falling 8-1.
 
The Pioneers return to action this weekend as they face Empire 8 opponent Nazareth on Friday and conference opponent St. John Fisher on Saturday. The match on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m. while the match on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
