Engels Earns D3baseball Weekly Honors
D3baseball.com honored St. John Fisher College starting pitcher
Terry Engels as
Pitcher of the Week for his performance for the week ending April 24
th.
Engels, a junior right-hander from Baldwinsville, threw the Cardinals second no-hitter of the season this past Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference showdown against Stevens Institute of Technology. The last no-hitter this season came back on March 11
th against Elmira College. This is the third no-hitter in program history.
In the 4-1 win, Engels struck out five and an allowed one unearned run in seven innings of action. With the victory the junior improves his record to 4-1 on the season.
For the season, he has posted a 2.13 ERA and is second on the team in strikeouts with 37. Opponents are hitting .179 off the righty.
Fisher is back in action this weekend when it hosts Empire 8 rival Ithaca College. After Saturday's 1 p.m. doubleheader, the Cardinals will honor eight seniors prior to the 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday against the Bombers.
