2016 Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team

The 2016 Empire 8 Conference men’s lacrosse all-tournament team has been announced.

Ithaca: Scott Sidnam (G) – MVP, Jack Shumway (A), Kaelan Fitzpatrick (M), Eli Gobrecht (D)
Stevens: Max Bailey (A), John Boutureira (M), Chris Contino (D)
Nazareth: Luke Wooters (A), Matt O'Neill (M)
St. John Fisher: Matthew Condon (M), Andrew Rosso (M)

2016 Empire 8 Men’s Lacrosse All-Tournament Team

Tournament Most Valuable Player
Scott Sidnam, Sr., Ithaca College
Goalie, Camillus, NY

Scott Sidnam earned his second career Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player honor after stopping a total of 20 shots over the course of two games in the conference tournament for the Bombers.  He made six saves and allowed just three goals in the Bombers semifinal win over Fisher.  He came back with 14 saves in the championship game victory over Stevens.

Jack Shumway, Jr., Ithaca College
Attack, South Hadley, Mass.

Shumway led the Bombers with 11 points over the course of two tournament victories.  He netted five goals and added two assists in Ithaca’s semifinal win over St. John Fisher.  He also added four goals in the championship game to lift the Bombers to their fourth Empire 8 title in program-history.

Luke Wooters, Sr., Nazareth College
Attack, White Plains, NY

Wooters had five goals and three assists to finish the season with 111 points on 49 goals and 62 assists in the Golden Flyers semifinal loss to Stevens. Wooters finished his career as the program’s all-time points leader with 363 on 190 goals and 173 assists.

Max Bailey, Fr., Stevens    
Attack, Millersville, MD

Bailey registered seven points in two tournament games for the Ducks.  He tallied five points (one goals, four assists) to help guide the Ducks to a three goal victory over Nazareth College in the semifinals.  He also added one goal and one assist in the championship game against Ithaca. 

Matt O'Neill, Sr., Nazareth College
Midfielder, Issaquah, WA

Senior Matt O'Neill also capped a strong career with four goals and two assists in the Golden Flyer’s semifinal matchup against Stevens.  He finished the season with 34 goals.

Kaelan Fitzpatrick, So., Ithaca College
Midfielder, Shebarn, MA


John Boutureira, So., Stevens
Midfielder, Scarsdale, NY

Boutureira averaged 3.0 goals per game in the tournament and broke out with a career-high four goals in the championship game against Ithaca College.  He also added two goals in the Duck’s thrilling semifinal win over Nazareth College.

Matthew Condon, Sr., St. John Fisher
Midfielder, Penfield, NY

Condon totaled three shots on goal and caused one turnovers in the Cardinals semifinal matchup against nationally-ranked No. 1 and eventual Empire 8 Champion Ithaca College. Condon finished his senior season with 32 total points on 17 goals and 15 assists. 

Andrew Rosso, So., St. John Fisher
Midfielder, Kirkville, NY

Rosso led the Cardinals with two goals and added one ground ball in their semifinal contest against E8 champion Ithaca College. Rosso capped his sophomore season with a team-best 48 points on 24 goals and 24 assists.

Chris Contino, Jr., Stevens
Defender, Branchburg, NJ

Contino totaled two goals, two ground balls and two caused turnovers over the course of two games for the Ducks in the conference tournament. In the championship game against Ithaca he registered one goal, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Eli Gobrecht, Sr., Ithaca College
Defender, Ithaca, NY

Gobrecht averaged 4.5 ground balls and 4.0 caused turnovers over the course of two conference tournament victories for Ithaca. He helped guide the Bomber defense which allowed an average of just 8.5 goals per game in the tournament.
