D3baseball.com Team of the Week
ITHACA, N.Y. - Early Tuesday morning, junior
Trevor Thompson was named to the D3baseball.com Team of Week after his performance during the week of May 2-8. Thompson's performance also earned him Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Thompson paced the Bombers' offense, boasting a .467 batting average and going 7-for-15 overall. The Lake Hopatcong, N.J. native finished his week with three homeruns, two doubles, eight RBI and six runs scored, leading Ithaca to a 4-0 record over the span.
The junior had his best performance of the week against St. John Fisher College on May 8, as the Bombers routed the Cardinals, 16-1. Thompson had a day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two extra-base hits (homerun and double), three RBI and three runs scored.
Currently, Thompson leads Ithaca in batting average, hitting .338 on the season. He has tallied 45 hits, 33 runs scored, 32 RBI, 16 doubles and six homeruns. Earlier this season, Thompson reached a milestone, notching his 100th career hit against St. John Fisher on April 30. He went 2-for-4 in the game with two runs scored and an RBI.
Ithaca travels to Rochester, N.Y. on Thursday to take on Stevens Institute of Technology at Fisher in the Empire 8 Tournament. The Bombers are slated for a 2:30 start time.
