Fisher Makes Cut At NCAAs - Cardinals Currently In Eighth

The St. John Fisher College men's golf team made the cut for the NCAA Division III Championship on Wednesday for the fifth consecutive year. 

Playing Midvale Country Club, the Cardinals shot a 305 ( 17) and will enter Thursday's third round tied for eighth place with a two-day total of 603 ( 31).  Fisher shot a 298 on Tuesday at Mendon Golf Club and was tied for third place after its first round.

Thursday and Friday's final two rounds will both be played in the morning at Midvale.  The original field of 41 teams how now been shrunk to 15 teams.  California's Claremont-Mudds-Scripps, who was at 2 after Tuesday's opening round, finished Wednesday at 11.   The Stags are at 13 for the tournament and hold a nine-shot lead over Washington & Lee University.

Fisher's Corey Haas fired an even-par 72 on Wednesday and is in 9th place overall at 3.  The lone senior missed short par putts on No. 9 and No. 18, but made four birdies on the day, including a beautiful 2 on the 181-yard No. 3.

After making a triple-bogey 7 on the second hole of the day, Karl Deuble righted the ship and finished at 4.

Jeff Palmerino finished at 5 after playing his first 10 holes at one-under-par.   Christopher Salone finished strong, making four straight pars, and ended the day at 8.  Ian Campbell is at 10 for the tournament after shooting 81 ( 9) on Wednesday.
