Piraino Breaks School Record In 10K
Day One Results
TROY, NY – Sophomore
Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) ran in the 10,000 meter run to break her school record and place the Alfred University women's outdoor track and field team ninth overall during the first day of the NYSCTC Championships on Friday.
Rensselear Polytechnic Institute is hosting the two-day event in which Piraino was able to capture her school record mark with a time of 38:07.29 and earn six points for the Saxons. Her previous school record was set last year in which she ran a 38:40.60. The personal best time was an improvement of 33.31 seconds from last year's mark.
Sophomore
Megan Steen (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth) competed in the hammer throw. She finished 25th overall after only competing in the prelims (taking 12th in her flight). Steen tossed 31.51 meters (103'-4"). Her distance was a personal best, topping last year's mark at the Cardinal Classic of 30.95 meters (101'-6.4") by .36 meters.
