Cordani and Pitman Set School Records at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ithaca College women's track & field program sent five individuals and two relay teams to compete in the first day of the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday at Franklin Stadium in Philadelphia.
Junior
Katherine Pitman broke the outdoor school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9.5 inches) in the championship portion of the event and placed third overall. Pitman was the only NCAA Division III athlete accepted into the championship, and the only two entries to place ahead of her were from Duke University.
Sophomore
Taryn Cordani shaved 12.5 seconds off her personal best in the 5,000-meter run and set a new school record in a time of 16:56.76 to come in 22nd of 61 entries. Cordani was fourth overall among DIII runners, and broke the previous school mark by 10 seconds (17:06.50), which was set back in 2011.
