Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis senior Matthew Heinrich was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Heinrich earned the distinction in the at-large category, besting student-athletes from more than eight different sports from Division III institutions around the country. The honor is the third of Heinrich's career.

Heinrich tied for the team lead with 14 singles victories this spring, leading the Ducks to 18 wins, a seventh consecutive Empire 8 Conference Championship, and a ninth NCAA Tournament appearance. Heinrich also served as the Ducks doubles ace, teaming with fellow senior Ben Foran to go 17-2.

The veteran competed exclusively at first at both singles and doubles, and became the first player in program history to achieve 100 singles victories.

With the distinction, Heinrich is now eligible to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American team which will be announced in early June.
