Heinrich And Foran Selected For NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis senior
Matthew Heinrich has been selected for the NCAA Division III Individual Championship at singles, while Heinrich and senior
Ben Foran have been selected to the field at doubles.
Heinrich is one of 32 singles players from around the country to be selected for the prestigious event, while Heinrich/Foran is one of just 16 doubles teams. The appearance will be the third of Heinrich's career.
The appearance will be just the second in the program's history at doubles after Heinrich and Chris Rosensteel made the field in 2013.
Heinrich tied for the team lead with 14 singles victories this season en route to being named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season. The Stevens veteran has made the most of his previous two trips to the tournament, winning the opening match each time to earn NCAA All-American status.
Heinrich/Foran was the Ducks leading doubles team all spring, winning 17 times from the No. 1 spot to play a crucial role in the Ducks 18-win season. The duo is currently ranked No. 18 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and No. 3 regionally.
The championship will take place from May 26-28 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
