Pitman Places Second at DI ECAC/IC4A Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - 
Junior Katherine Pitman of the Ithaca College women's track & field team competed at the Division I ECAC/IC4A Championships hosted by Princeton Universty on Sunday, May 15 at Weaver Stadium.

Pitman was one of 23 entries in the pole vault and was the only competitor from a DIII school. She placed second overall with a mark of 3.96 meters (12 feet, 11.75 inches), which was .10 meters (four inches) from winning the event.

She cleared her first attempt at 3.86 meters and surpassed 3.96 on her second try. Pitman was unsuccessful on all three runs at 4.01 meters.

The Swampscott, Mass. native was the highest seeded participant in the pole vault at 4.18 meters.

Although Pitman was the lone Bomber to attempt the meet, Ithaca still placed 36th in the team standings with eight points.

Ithaca is back in action at the ECAC Championships in Westfield, Mass. on May 18-19
