Fisher Rallies For Win In NCAA Action
Second-seeded St. John Fisher College scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, as the Cardinals rallied for a 6-5 win over No. 7 Salve Regina University on Wednesday in the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the NCAA Division Baseball Championship in Moosic, Penn.
With the win, Fisher improves to 35-11 and will now face No. 6 Kean University (27-16) at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday at PNC Field.
Fisher is now 4-0 all-time in NCAA Championship opening round games.
Trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the eighth, Fisher scored two runs with two outs to take the lead.
Cody Wiktorski singled through the left side to score
Joe Simmons, who singled up the middle to start the inning.
Ryan Prevost then singled to shortstop to score
Malcolm Kelsey, the eventual game-winning run.
Loukas Brigham earned his ninth save to set the Fisher single-season record. He let the first batter reach, but retired the next three he faced.
Red-shirt freshman
DJ Mendenhall earned his first career win, allowing one run over one inning. Senior
Stephen Lewis was solid through seven, scattering six hits and three earned runs.
The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and could have taken a much bigger lead early on. With one out and runners on second and third, Wiktorski fielded a grounder at third and threw out a runner at the plate for the second out.

Jack Trotman and
Evan Ryan each scored on an RBI-single from
Mike Roman, knotting the game at 2s.
Salve scored a run in the sixth on a solo home run and added another run in the top of the seventh before Fisher tied the game in the bottom-half of the frame.
With the bases loaded, Trotman walked to score pinch-hitter
Frank Carnevale. Roman then hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Ryan to tie the game at 4s.
Nate Roethel and Kelsey each finished with two hits, while Ryan scored two runs. Roman finished with three RBI.
