Men’s Lacrosse Player – Ithaca
John Januszkiewicz, Junior, Attack – Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park
Junior John Januszkiewicz scored nine points on seven goals with two assists as the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team concluded the regular season perfect in conference play with wins over Elmira College and Hartwick. Januszkiewicz scored four goals with two assists in a 22-3 win over Elmira Wednesday, and he added three goals in Saturday's 16-3 win over Hartwick for the Bombers (16-1, 8-0 Empire 8). Ithaca, which moved up to No. 1 in the national rankings, has won a school-record 14 games and will host the Empire 8 tournament, May 4 and 7. Ithaca will play No. 4 St. John Fisher College at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals. The Bombers, who lead the nation in scoring offense (17.53 goals per game) have scored 15 or more goals in 16 of 17 games. Januszkiewicz has scored 53 points on 37 goals with 16 assists while playing in only 12 games.
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie – Ithaca
Cameron Prior, Junior, Malden, MA/Malden Catholic
Elmira junior goalie Cameron Prior combined to make 44 saves in two games (faced a combined 114 shots) last week. He tied his season high with 24 saves against No. 2 Ithaca with a .533 save percentage. He also stopped 20 shots against Utica with a .606 save percentage. He now has six outings this season with 20-plus saves. He finished the season with 223 saves, tops in Empire 8 in saves and saves per game and most by an EC goalie in a single season in over 14 seasons.
Women’s Lacrosse Player – Ithaca
Morgan Cadwell, Junior, Midfielder – Watertown, NY/Watertown
Morgan Cadwell registered a career-high seven points on four goals with three assists, as the Ithaca College women's lacrosse team claimed the Empire 8 regular season championship and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming postseason tournament with a 12-11 win over St. John Fisher College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. Cadwell scored three goals with one assist in the first half, and added one goal with two assists in the second, as IC finished the regular season undefeated in conference play. Cadwell also won four draw controls and scored two free-position goals as the Bombers won for the 11th time in their last 13 games.
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie – Houghton
Kourtnie Franklin, Senior, Belfast, NY/Belfast Central School
Senior Kourtnie Franklin totaled 23 saves and posted a .500 save percentage in a 1-1 week for the Highlanders. Franklin produced double-digit saves in both of Houghton’s games, including a 13-save effort in a 14-10 win over Hartwick. Franklin’s 13 saves tied her season high.
Baseball Player – Canton
Seth Douglas, Junior, 1B/DH – Reedsburg, WI/Reedsburg
Douglas had a monster week hitting hitting 14-for-21 from the plate (.667) lead the Roos to a 4-1 week and back into the thick of playoff contention with a 2-0 weekend v. Elmira College. He finished the week with 14 RBI, two home runs, two doubles and two triples to go with a 1.238 slugging percentage. He opened the week going 4-for-4 with three runs, a home run and 4 RBI in a 9-4 win at SUNY Poly. He followed that up with a 3-for-3 performance with three runs, 3 RBI, a double and a walk in the Roos only loss of the week v. the Wildcats. Douglas produced two hits including a triple and 4 RBI in a 16-12 victory v. St. Lawrence on Thursday. The Wisconsin native then combined to go 5-for-8 with three runs, 3 RBI, a double and a triple in a pair of huge Empire 8 wins (10-4, 6-5) v. Elmira on Saturday.
Baseball Pitcher – Stevens
Zeph Walters Junior – Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar
In his only appearance of the week, Walters tossed a complete game two-hitter in a 1-0 win over Houghton on Saturday. Walters struck out nine while allowing just two hits and no walks in the victory, while also going 2-for-4 with a double.
Softball Player – Alfred
Kelly Robichaud, Senior, Catcher – Vernon, CT/East Catholic
Senior Kelly Robichaud of the nationally-ranked Ithaca College softball team collected a pair of multi-hit games last week as the No. 19 Bombers swept Union College in their only doubleheader of the week. Robichaud combined to go 4-for-6 overall with three homeruns, four runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base as Ithaca improved to 29-7 on the season. In the opening game, the senior catcher clubbed two homeruns before hitting another in the nightcap. Robichaud leads the conference with 10 homers.
Softball Pitcher – Ithaca
Kerri Keeler, Sophomore – Jamesville-DeWitt, NY/Jamesville
Keeler earned wins in both games in a sweep of St. John Fisher over the weekend, allowing no runs in 10 innings pitched. In the opener, she pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout, striking out four to outduel Fisher's Lindsey Thayer in a 1-0 Saxon win. The victory clinched a berth for the Saxons in the Empire 8 Tournament. In the second game, Keeler tossed three innings of two-hit scoreless relief, striking out one to get the win in Alfred's 13-12 nine-inning victory. She also pitched one inning against Hilbert College during the week, allowing one earned run.
Men’s Tennis Player– Stevens
Matthew Heinrich, Senior – Hendersonville, TN/Hendersonville
Matthew Heinrich continued his top-level play this past week with a 5-0 showing in three wins for the Ducks. The senior standout picked up his 100th career singles victory on Monday afternoon in the team’s 8-1 rout of TCNJ. Heinrich becomes the first player in program history to reach triple digit singles victories. He also went on to win conference matches against Hartwick and Utica, winning 28-of-30 games played.
Men’s Golf Player – Utica
Ryan Sosnowski, Sr., Alden, NY/Alden
Sosnowski finished in 32nd place at the Laker Spring Tournament. He shot a 91 on day one and a 92 on day two for a two-day score of 183.
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete – Ithaca
Seth Abbott, Sophomore – Thomaston, CT/Thomaston
Through five events in the decathlon, sophomore Seth Abbott sits in fourth with 3,065 points at the NYSCTC Decathlon Championships. Abbott was third in the long jump at 5.83 meters (19 feet, 3.5 inches), fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.86 seconds), fourth in the shot put (10.65 meters – 34' 11.25"), fourth in the 400-meter dash (52.55 seconds) and fifth in the high jump (1.78 meters – 5' 10").
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Nazareth
Luis Rivera, Senior -- Rochester, NY/James Monroe
Rivera blew away the field in the hammer throw at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic. He won with a toss of 57.16 meters (187 feet, 6 inches), almost six meters further than the second place finisher.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete – Stevens
Amy Regan, Senior – Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional
In her 10,000 meter debut at the Penn Relays, senior Amy Regan finished second with a time of 34:09.44. The time leads NCAA Division III by over a minute, and was the eighth fastest in DIII history. The last 5,000 meters of her race was run in 16.52, and Regan edged out runners from several different Division I programs.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Ithaca
Katherine Pitman, Junior – Swampscott, MA/Swampscott
Pitman broke her own school record in the pole vault twice this week. Pitman cleared 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9.5 inches) in the championship portion of the event and placed third overall at the Penn Relays. She was the only NCAA Division III athlete accepted into the championship, and the only two entries to place ahead of her were from Duke University. At Cornell's Big Red Invitational on Sunday, she cleared a height of 4.10 meters (13' 5.25"), which was almost a foot better than the runner-up from Division I Binghamton University. Pitman currently ranks second in the nation with this performance.
