Men's Outdoor Track Athlete - Nazareth
Tom Sippie, Senior – Toms River, NJ/Toms River South
Tom Sippie broke his own school record and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the ECAC meet at Westfield State with a time of :47.78 seconds.
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete – Alfred
Seth Spicer, Sophomore – Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post
Seth Spicer claimed the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Decathlon Championship title after sitting in third place after day one at Westfield (MA) State University. Spicer finished with 6,222 points which surpassed runner-up Andrew Herwig of Colby College by 95 points. Spicer's point total was a personal best that shattered his old mark by 343 points that he set during the NYSCTC Championships at St. Lawrence University. His come-from-behind win was made possible with his final five events in which he broke his personal best in four of them. The personal bests were set during his 110 meter hurdles (15.84), pole vault (3.60 meters), javelin (41.07 meters), and the 1,500 meter run (4:22.94). Spicer also won the discus throw with a toss of 32.66 meters on the final day. During day one, he threw a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 12.53 meters to claim his first win of the day. One more personal record was broken for him on the day in the 400 meter dash (52.08).
Women's Outdoor Track Athlete - Alfred
Lindsay Piraino, Sophomore - Nunda, NY/Keshequa
Sophomore Lindsay Piraino broke her own school record in the 10,000 meter run at the ECAC Outdoor Championships. Piraino's third-place time of 38:03.90 bettered her school record of 38:07.29 set earlier this month at the New York State championship meet.
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete - Ithaca
Brandy Smith, Junior – Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades
Junior Brandy Smith won the Women's Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet at the ECAC Championships after winning the shot put and discus. Smith set a new school record in the shot put with a mark of 14.14 meters (46 feet, 4.75 inches) and blew away the field in the discus by over six meters (22 feet) with a throw of 51.92 meters (170' 4").
