KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 27, 2016) – Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis seniors Matthew Heinrich and Ben Foran knocked-off Pomona-Pitzer's Graham Maassen and Spencer Simonides 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 Friday in the quarterfinal of the NCAA Individual Championship.

The win catapults the Stevens duo to tomorrow's semifinal against Sam Geier and Tristan Kaye of Kenyon College scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Stevens has never had a doubles team advance to the final-four round.

Geier/Kaye enter the semi ranked No. 17 nationally at doubles, one spot ahead of Heinrich/Foran.

Maassen/Simonides grabbed the first set 7-5 in a back-and-forth tilt that saw the set tied at 5-5. The Stevens duo gained early control in the second with an initial 3-0 lead, but Maassen/Simonides responded with the next two games to pull within 3-2.

Heinrich/Foran answered the rally however to take a 5-2 lead, before holding off a late surge to take the 6-4 win.

Stevens continued that momentum in the third, breaking a 2-2 deadlock to take the final four games and the match.
