Thayer Named to NCAA Softball All-Tournament Team
St. John Fisher College sophomore pitcher Lindsey Thayer has been named to the All-Tournament Team for the Softball College World Series.
Thayer appeared in all five games during the softball CWS for the Cardinals to lead them to a third-place finish in the tournament. It was Fisher’s first-ever appearance in the College World Series.
The sophomore tallied 41 strikeouts while allowing just eight runs on 23 hits in five games. Against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she went the distance striking out a tournament-high 14, while allowing a hit and a walk in the 1-0 victory. She also had shutout wins against the University of St. Thomas and the University of Texas-Tyler. Both of Fisher’s losses in the CWS came against Texas-Tyler, the eventual national champion.
The ace helped Fisher set the program record with 41 wins in 2016, as she was credited with 31 on the mound.
