Fisher Ranks Seventh in D3baseball.com Final Poll
The St. John Fisher College baseball team finished the 2016 campaign with a 39-13 record to rank seventh in the final
D3baseball.com poll. The Cardinals were ranked 25
th in the week 12 poll, cracking the top 25 for the first time this season.
This year, the program set records in wins with in a single-season with 39 (previous record was 31), claimed its first Regional title and clinched its first-ever spot in the NCAA Division III Baseball College World Series. Fisher finished fifth at the CWS with a 1-2 record.
Head coach
Brandon Potter earned his 200
th-win to become the program's winningest coach, bringing his total for wins up to 210.
Pitchers
Marc Iseneker and
Terry Engels each threw no-hitters this year to bring the total up to four for the program.
Fisher had seven All-New York Region selections total between the ABCA and D3baseball.com, while
Stephen Lewis earned All-American Honorable Mention honors from the ABCA.
Teammate
Mike Roman collected his 200
th-career hit and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors. The senior, who was named as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Most Outstanding Player, finished out his college career with 216 hits to rank second on the Cardinals' career list, while tying the single-season record for hits with 76.
