Stevens and Ithaca Ranked In Opening NSCAA Poll
The Stevens Institute of Technology and Ithaca College women's soccer teams enter the 2016 campaign ranked No. 14 and No. 23, respectively, in the
opening poll put out by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America .
The Ducks are coming off an Empire 8 Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Sectional Semifinal last season. Stevens finished 18-4-1 in 2015 and returns four of the top-five point scorers from last season, including reigning Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Year
Raba Nassif and E8 Rookie of the Year
Zisi Komar.
Ithaca is also coming off another successful season after posting a 13-5-2 mark and its 26th appearance in the NCAA Championship.The Bombers return reigning E8 Defensive Player of the Year
Aimee Chimera.
The Ducks' regular-season schedule features 11 home games, including their season opener, Sept. 1, against Ramapo College at 7 p.m.
The Bombers will open play with the Michelle Vargas-Robin Memorial Tournament in New Paltz on September 3 against The Sages Colleges before taking on host SUNY New Paltz the following day on September 4.
