UC Men's Golf Places Eighth at SLU Invitational

Canton, NY – The Utica College men's golf team capped its opening weekend tied for eighth place out of 12 teams at the St. Lawrence Invitational at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course on Sunday. The Pioneers posted a two day total of 660 and they were led by freshman Patrick Coughlin (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) who shot a 159 (75, 84) and finished in a tie for 17th place out of 61 golfers.  After day one Coughlin was tied for sixth after he posted a 75 in the first round.

Utica's Easton Powers (South Lyon, MI/Port Huron (NAHL)) shaved six strokes off his day one total and posted an 80 on day two to move up seven spots as he tied for 35th place with a two day total of 166.  Senior Kevin Kirisits (Buffalo, NY/Brockville (CCHL)) was down two strokes on day two and climbed the leaderboard one spot into a tie for 38th place with a two day total of 168 (85, 83).

UC's Christoper Neto capped his first collegiate tournament in 46th place after posting a two day total of 173 (81, 92).  Mason Munger (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa ) shaved five strokes off his day one score and finished in a tie for 51st with a two day score of 177 (91, 86).

The Pioneers return to the course on Saturday when they host the Utica College Fall Invitational at the Yahnundasis.
