NEWINGTON, Conn. (September 11, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team shot a 324 Sunday at day two of the Bill Detrick Invitational, giving the Ducks a two-round total of 640.

The 11-team tournament took place at the par-72 Indian Hill Country Club in Newington, Conn. The 640 placed the Ducks seventh overall in the talent-laden field.

Senior Frank Szucs once again led the Ducks Sunday with a 73 in a round that included 13 pars and a pair of birdies. Szucs tallied pars in eight of the nine holes on the front for a 37, and shaved one stroke off that on the back thanks to par-five birdies on 14 and 18.

The 148 was good for a tie for fifth overall.

Sophomores Jack Doherty and Tyler Balkema finished second and third for Stevens with rounds of 80 and 82 respectively. Combined with Balkema's 78 on Saturday, the second-year golfer finished second overall on the team with a 160.

Host Trinity College captured the team title with a 295, while Trinity's Joseph Ladd won individually with a 144.

The Ducks will return to the course next weekend for the first two rounds of the Empire 8 Conference Championship starting Saturday at the Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
