Elmira Finishes Sixth at Keuka College Invitational
PENN YAN, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's golf team recorded its best round of the season at the Keuka College Invitational on Wednesday, just three days prior to the fall portion of the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament.
EC placed sixth out of 12 teams on the par-71 course at the Lakeside Country Club with a cumulative 330 (+46). Those totals mark Elmira's best overall score and score versus par of the 2016 season. The Purple and Gold ended the day 19 strokes off the pace of first-place Oswego State (311, +27).
A trio of Soaring Eagles finished the midweek round of 18 tied in 22nd place.
Brandon Payne '17,
Dan Gridley '18, and
Nicholas Neary '19 all carded their best rounds of the season with an 11-over par 82. For Gridley and Neary, those scores were also a new single-round career lows.
Senior linksman
Brian Demo '17 also registered his best round of the fall season on Wednesday. He carded an 87 (+16) and placed in a tie for 38th.
