Stevens Places Second
RESULTS
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (September 10, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country took home second place at the Vassar College Ron Stonitsch Invitational Saturday.
"This is a great first step for the women's team quest for an empire 8 championship and NCAA berth," said Head Coach
Justin Wood. "We mixed it up with #1 Williams and beat #9 RPI. These big race situations are going to really help us later on in the season."
Senior
Amy Regan, who sat out last cross country season, made her long awaited to the course today. Regan took first place with a time of 18:04.2, 29.1 seconds faster than the second place time. The senior broke her own Vassar Farm course record by seven seconds.
Sophomore
Mary Visca, who qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships last year, finished third in 19:01.2 holding off fourth place by .7 seconds. Seniors
Kathleen Kalbian and
Kaela Earrusso notched top-25 times, with Kalbian coming in 21st. Sophomore
Jackie Endres rounded out the scoring for Stevens, turning in a mark of 20:13; good for 35h place. Sophomore
Kristen Okorn and freshman
Claire Tantillo each picked top-50 times.
