Nazareth downs Utica in women's tennis, 8-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth swept all three doubles matches in decisive fashion Saturday as the Golden Flyers recorded their second straight 8-1 victory over at Empire 8 Conference foe as they downed Utica, 8-1. It was Nazareth's second conference win of the weekend after also defeating St. John Fisher Friday, 8-1.
Nazareth improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference matches. Utica is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the E8.
Senior
Jean McCarthy won matches at both first singles and second doubles, while sophomore
Allison Friends triumphed at second singles and first doubles. Sophomores
Marisa Joyce and
Maeve Morgan and freshman Maelah Neadeau also were winners in singles and doubles. Sophomore
Aliana Burgos helped Nazareth secure another point at third doubles as she teamed with Morgan for an 8-2 win.
Nazareth plays again Tuesday at Alfred at 4 p.m.
