ROCHESTER, N.Y. -
Four Empire 8 women's cross country teams competed at the U of R Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday at Genesee Valley Park. Ithaca finished second overall out of 27 teams.

Ithaca tallied 103 points as all five of its top runners completed the 6K course within the top 50. There were 352 competitors in the race, and Division I Cornell University won the meet with 23 points, as all of its runners were within the top 10.

Junior Taryn Cordani bested the field in a time of 21:16.0, which was nearly 12 seconds fastest than the next closest runner in the field.

Fellow junior Denise Ibarra completed the course next for the Bombers in 12th place (13th overall) at 22:25.9, while graduate student Michaela Cioffredi took 21st (28th overall) in 23:05.7.

Freshman Annie Morrison registered a time of 23:41.6 to come in 31st in scoring (40th), and senior Emily Drain took 38th (50th) in a time of 23:55.7.

Junior Alexis Kindig (24:00.4) and sophomore Emilie Mertz (24:01.3) took 51st and 52nd overall.

Nazareth placed 14th as a team and was led by freshman Megan Menz, coming in 24:18.3 over the 6-kilometer course.  Emily Thompson was next in 24:35.0 followed by Claire Ludington's 24:54.9.

Eileen Shea ripped off a 25:16.3 and was followed by Jamie DiSalvo in 25:23.5 to round out Nazareth's scoring.

St. John Fisher College finished 21st and freshman McKayla Crawford was Fisher's top finisher, posting a time of 24:40, while classmate Gabriella Dunkelbergfinished in 25:14.  BrennaLyons was Fisher's third finisher at 26:26, while Mikayla Baker and Alexandra Wilder closed out the scoring for Fisher.

Alfred was 23rd as a team and junior Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) was the top runner for the Saxons, completing the 6-kilometer course in 24:22.20 to place 63rd. Junior Emily MacWilliams (Geneva, NY/Waterloo) was 146th in 26:45.40 and senior Tracy Johnston (Akron, NY/Akron) was 156th in 28:33.90.
