ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 17, 2016)
– Senior Amy Regan and sophomore Mary Visca finished first and second to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team to a first place win at the Oneonta Airfield Invitational.

For the second straight week, the Ducks fared better than a team in the USFTCCCA top-10, this time besting No. 7 Oneonta. Stevens tallied 27 points, while Oneonta had 28.

"The women executed the race strategy perfectly," Head Coach Justin Wood said. "Oneonta's 4 and 5 runners were closing hard but we had positioned far enough up to hold them off.  This is a great win for us after beating #11 RPI last week."

The top-10 runners came from either Stevens or host Oneonta, led by the duo of Regan and Visca. The senior finished in 16:13.6 while Visca strode in at 16:25.2. No one got within 25 seconds of those two, but the next three finishers belonged to the Red Dragons.

Seniors Kathleen Kalbian and Kaela Earrusso sandwiched around an Oneonta, with Kalbian turning in a sixth place time of 17:15.8. Sophomore Kasey Suszko was last scorer for Stevens, placing 10th in 17:42.1 with freshman Claire Tantillo right behind her in 11th.

Stevens also received top-25 times from junior Kiera Sheridan, freshman Breanna Veilleux and junior Lauren Logan

Hartwick placed fourth at the annual Oneonta Airfield Invitational. Sarah Matys (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) was 'Wick's top finisher for the second competition in a row. She ran today's 4.5K in 19:14.9, which was good enough for 25th place.

Elsa Bock (Shelburne, VT/Champlain Valley Union) and Abby Cerne (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) were next for the Hawks. Bock covered the course in 19:55.9. Cerne was not far behind completing her run in 20:09.3. Tylisha Gourdine (Watertown, NY/Watertown) came in at 20:53.9.
