Stevens Cruises To Third-Straight Win
MADISON, N.J. (September 21, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team swept doubles for the third time this season Wednesday afternoon in a 7-2 road win over Drew.
The win moved Stevens to 4-1, while Drew fell to 0-1.
Sophomores
Jill Hadwen and
Julia Earl grabbed the early lead for Stevens with an 8-3 win at third, followed by sophomore
Sydney Zoretic and freshman
Nicole Badalyan's 8-3 win at second.
Senior
Alexis Connor and freshman
Isabella Calandra completed the sweep soon after with an 8-6 win at first. The win was the third of the season for the veteran-rookie combo.
Drew fought back with a victory a first singles, but Earl inched the Ducks closer to victory with a 6-4, 6-0 win at sixth. Calandra followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at fourth, before Drew grabbed another point with a win at second.
It's all the scoring Stevens would allow however as senior
Jillian Morneau overcame a first set loss at fifth to keep her undefeated season alive, followed by Zoretic doing the same in a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at third.
The Ducks will be back in action Saturday when they kick off a four-match homestand with Utica at 1 p.m.
