OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team claimed a 7-2 non-conference victory at Oswego State Wednesday afternoon. AU won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests to improve to 2-7 on the season.
 
Winning singles matches for the Saxons were: first-year student  Tori Pellegrino  (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), 6-2, 6-3 in first singles;  sophomore Emma Seimer (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), 6-4, 6-0 in second singles; junior Sarah Grace (Rochester, NY/Penfield),  6-2, 6-0 in third singles; sophomore Beryl Torthe (Pretoria, South Africa/St. Mary's Diocesan-South Africa), 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 in fourth singles; and sophomore Inda Gillett (South Kortright, NY/Delaware Academy), 6-4, 6-0 in fifth singles.
 
Pellegrino and Siemer won first doubles, 8-5, while Grace and Gillett too second doubles, 8-1.
 
AU is in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. at Clarion (PA) University.
