Stevens Opens Fall Schedule With Ducks Invitational

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 25, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team opened its 2016 season this weekend with the two-day Stevens Fall Invitational in Hoboken.  

Stevens competed against NYU Saturday in singles matchups, before a doubles tournament Sunday with NYU, RPI and TCNJ.

News and notes:
- Junior Danny Polk, junior David Schulz, and sophomore Kyle Cenderelli set the tone for Stevens with each going 2-0. 
- Junior William Persson overcame a second-set loss in a big win in round one. Persson's opponent, Matt DeMichiel, won 14 times at singles last season to lead NYU in wins.
- Stevens and NYU have met five times in-a-row during the spring season.

News and notes:
- All three of Stevens' doubles teams went 2-for-3 on the day.
- Three of Stevens' six wins came by at least four points.
- Henry/Cenderelli was one of Stevens' most consistent doubles teams towards the end of the spring where they went 6-3 on the season. The duo competed together for both Empire 8 championship matches, and the NCAA Tournament.
- Feldman/Polk went 7-0 last season.

The Ducks will compete once more this fall with the ITA Northeast Regional starting on October 1.
