GENEVA, N.Y. – One Ithaca women's tennis player remained alive in the singles draw heading into second day action at the ITA Northeast Regionals, held at the Hobart-William Smith Tennis Center in Geneva, N.Y., on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Bombers' run came to an end in the Round of 16, as Haley Kusak was eliminated from contention.

Kusak battled through a tough opening round match in yesterday's Round of 64, defeating Jessica Ampel of Skidmore 7-5, 6-4. She earned her way into Sunday's action with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Alyssa Baldi of The College of New Jersey.

The Bombers' senior netter faced her most difficult test yet in the Round of 16 match on Sunday, as she ran into the fourth overall seed at the tournament in Kate Christensen of Vassar College. Kusak battled hard against the seeded foe, but ultimately Christensen proved too tough to overcome. The Vassar standout took the match 6-3, 6-1.

The Ithaca women's tennis team returns to dual match play on Wednesday, September 28, when the team heads to Oneonta, N.Y., for a 4:00 p.m. matchup against Empire 8 foe Hartwick College.
