Elmira Fall Invite
Elmira, NY – The Elmira College and Utica College men's golf teams placed fourth and sixth, respectively, out of eight teams at the 2016 Elmira College Fall Invitational at Elmira Country Club on Tuesday. Utica freshman
Patrick Coughlin placed in a tie for eighth overall with an eight over par 80.
Elmira sophomore Charl Pretorius carded a score of 82 to tie for twelfth place.
Following Pretorius,
Dan Gridley '18 and
Brandon Payne '17 posted the next lowest scores for the Purple and Gold, carding identical rounds of 83 (+11) for a tie for 16th place. Gridley was able to continue his strong play, scoring his seventh round in the 80s out of the eight rounds that he has played this season. The third-year Soaring Eagle shaved five strokes off of his score in last year's EC Fall Invitational. Being at his home course may just have been the remedy that Payne needed; this is the first tournament in the last three that Payne scored in the 80s.
Utica's
Kevin Kirisits placed 25
th with an 86, while
Easton Powers placed 30
th with a score of 88.
