Elmira Claims First Place at EC Fall Invitational

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- On a beautiful fall day in the Southern Tier, the Elmira College women's golf team took home first-place honors at the EC Fall Invitational, hosted by the Soaring Eagles at the Elmira Country Club. Elmira produced a team score of 379 (+95) to win the three-team event, the best finish of the year for the Purple and Gold.
 
Audrey Clarke '18 once again paced the Soaring Eagles with an 18-round score of 86 (+15) to place the third-year talent in second place on the leaderboard. Clarke was only stroke off of today's medalist, Holly Reynolds of Keuka College. Clarke and Reynolds were the only two women to shoot below a 90 this afternoon.

Utica College freshman Kara O'Driscoll placed third out. O'Driscoll shot a 93 on the afternoon, eight strokes off the medalist, to earn a third place finish in the event. O'Driscoll participated as an individual at the event.
 
Giovanna DeLoca '17 fired her second-lowest round of the year, a +23 over par 94, to finish the invite in a tie for fourth place. Elizabeth Paolucci '17 was not far off of DeLoca's pace, as the fellow senior carded a 98 (+27) to finish in seventh place. Paolucci's 98 was the second-lowest 18-round total of her collegiate career.
 
Rounding out the day's action were Alyssa Ogden '17 and Sarah Hiltbrand '19. Ogden fired a 101 (+30) to finish in 10th place, while Hiltbrand took home a 16th-place finish with a score of 123 (+52).

Today's invite served as a final tune-up before competing in the 2016 installment of the Empire 8 Conference Championships. This year's conference tournament will be hosted by Ithaca College at the Ithaca Country Club.
