USTFCCCA Top 35 Poll

The Ithaca College and Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country teams remain in the USTFCCCA Top 35 Poll, which was released on Wednesday afternoon, September 28. Ithaca moved up two spots, while Stevens fell down two spots.

Ithaca competed in one of the toughest meets of the season last Saturday. The Bombers ran at the Williams College Purple Valley Invitational and placed eighth overall as a team. The seven teams to finish ahead of Ithaca at the meet are all ranked above the Bombers in this week's poll – No. 1 Geneseo, No. 2 MIT, No. 5 Williams, No. 6 Tufts, No. 8 Wisconsin-LaCrosse, No. 10 Dickinson and No. 11 RPI.

Junior Denise Ibarra led the team with an eighth place individual finish on the 6K course that displayed over 270 runners in a time of 22:31.7. Four other runners – graduate student Michaela Cioffredi, freshman Annie Morrison, sophomore Emilie Mertz and senior Emily Drain all placed within the top 60.

Ithaca faces another competitive field this weekend as it travels to Division I Lehigh University for the Lehigh Invite – Paul Short Run at 1 p.m. on October 1.

Stevens was off last week but are now traveling to Louisville, Ky. to compete at the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1. That course will serve as the NCAA Cross Country Championship course.
