Naz & Elmira Fare Well at Harry F. Anderson Invite
Men's Results
The Nazareth College and Elmira College men's cross country teams were in action Saturday at the Harry F. Austin Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. The Nazareth men placed 12th, while Elmira finished 20th.
Nazareth's Nicasio Gristina was the top finisher in 36
th place (27:14.2) over the 8k course. Senior
Matt Battaglia was on his heels with a 27:21.5 for 39
th place and
Jack Wessel was 63
rd in a time of 28:14.4.
The other scorers for Nazareth were
Tom Lannon in 77
th (28:58.3) and
Jacob Murray in 82
nd (29:19.4).
James Fritsche '18 and
Zac Park '17 posted Elmira College's best times. In his first race of the season, Fritsche paced the Soaring Eagles with a time of 31:18.4. Park ran stride for stride with Fritsche throughout the eight kilometer race and finished two tenths of a second behind him. The pair finished 111th and 112th, respectively.
Saturday's race was a career best for Park's in the 8k. The Roscoe, New York native was able to shave almost two minutes off of his previous record, which occurred last season at this invitational.
Justin Gillule '19 ran his second-fastest time in this distance, running a 36:43.1. Today's was just a little slower than his career-best time of 35:30.90, which Gillule posted at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
