Elmira & Naz Run at Harry F. Anderson Invitational
The Elmira College and Nazareth College women's cross country teams were in action Saturday at the Harry F. Austin Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. The Nazareth women came in sixth (189 points) place out of 21 teams, while the Elmira placed 18th out of 22 teams.
Samantha Goble bounded through the 5-kilometer course in 19:29.7 for 21st place. She was followed by Emily Thompson, who finished in 19:45.6, for 34th place. Eileen Shea was less than four seconds behind Thompson for 40thplace.
Claire Ludington had a solid outing with a 43rd place finish (19:53.1). Megan Menz was the fifth finisher for Naz with a 20:08.0 for 51st place.
Elmira's Caitlin Malanowski and Hannah Lundgren '18 posted their second-best times of the season, redorded times of 22:24.1 and 22:46.9, respectively. Saturday's race was also the third race in a row that Malanowski set the best time for the Purple and Gold. Malanowski and Lundgren finished the race in 103rd and 105th places, respectively.
Abby Tourison '17 posted a personal record, finishing the race in 23:42.8 minutes. Tourison shaved over 16 seconds off of previous PR, set at the Empire 8 Conference Championships last year.
Hannah Gaston '18 was close to breaker her PR, posting a time of 23:55.2. She was a little over ten seconds away from beating her personal best. The third-year Soaring Eagle was able to top her best time at this invitational, shaving 16 seconds off her time at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational last season.
